Palaye Royale – Anxiety
Palaye Royale released their third studio album, The Bastards, on May 29, 2020, during the Covid-19 global pandemic. The album covers topics such as gun violence, substance abuse, mental health, and others through its deep lyrical content. This is supported by unique instrumentation that is true to Palaye Royale’s signature art-punk style.
Within the album is a raw and unapologetic song, “Anxiety.” Frontman Remington Leigh commented on it, stating, “We need a little honesty and a little truth. The world is getting so tainted by everyone trying to be so fucking perfect and so goddamn PG and trying to walk this line of not trying to offend anyone. People need to be themselves, just for 20 minutes at least.”
The song’s music video arrived in June 2020, set in a post-apocalyptic world. It was shot in the Nevada desert, co-directed by both Leith himself and Michael Bolten. The story picks up where Lonely’s music video ended, continuing the narrative.
“Anxiety” furthers Palaye Royale’s influence and impact as a band and The Bastards era of their music.
