Nita Strauss – The Wolf You Feed Feat. Alissa White-Gluz
After making history with “Dead Inside” (Feat. David Draiman) by becoming the first ever solo female artist to have a number one hit on Active Rock Radio, Nita Strauss unleashed her second single to feature guest vocals. Strauss teamed up with metal legend Alissa White-Gluz to create “The Wolf You Feed,” and saw its release on October 25, 2022.
Both Strauss and White-Gluz have inspired countless women in music and created a lasting impact on the industry. Strauss spoke about the collaboration, stating, “If you look back at old interviews from the last 10 years, any time I was asked about collaborating with a vocalist in the future, Alissa White-Gluz was always the first name out of my mouth. She is truly one of my favourite vocalists and performers in the industry and creating this track together was everything I hoped it would be!”
White-Gluz elaborated, “Nita and I finally got to collaborate – something we have both wanted to do for years! The Wolf You Feed is a kickass, catchy metal track with a really cool vibe.
The legend of the two wolves is often attributed to Native American origins. It serves as a metaphor for inner turmoil between what is good and evil. In many tellings, a boy speaks with his elder and asks which wolf will win the battle in his head–one representing positive traits, and the other negative. The elder responds simply with, “The wolf you feed.”
“I kept the ‘two wolves’ analogy as a foundation throughout the song while playing up the dichotomy of the two sides of the tug-of-war we all have inside us.” White-Gluz states, “I recorded my parts in my home studio and it was an absolute pleasure to build this song with Nita. I am honoured to be a part of it! Can’t wait to do this again!”
“I’m very proud to release this track, especially now with everything else that’s going on,” Strauss continues. “This time in history, whether in politics, music, social media, or our personal lives, has been an eye-opening look into the two wolves of a lot of people out there, and maybe this song will be a reminder that we all have the ability to choose how we respond to things.”
