Born of Osiris – Through Shadows

On May 14, 2025, the prog metal pioneers announced their album Through Shadows by revealing the title track and its accompanying music video. The track’s electronic intro builds anticipation, then is struck by the band's heavy entrance. The catchy, progressive instrumentation is then met with both screams and cleans, making for a compelling mix of sounds. The introspective lyrics dive into internal struggles and persevering through hard times. “Will you survive / When the sun comes down / Never ending, never ending / When the nights grow long, I’ll be the change” ends the song, expressing a call to action for the listener to look deep within.

Born of Osiris revealed, “‘Through Shadows’ is a reflection of the human experience– both the quiet struggles and the heavy storms we each endure. It’s about comforting the darkness with the understanding that without shadow, there is no light to shine through. When all feels lost, we’re left with a choice: face demise or defend our existence. This song is our call to choose the light, even in our darkest moments.”

The striking color scheme is front and center for the music video. The visuals are completely drenched in orange, contrasting the band, who is wearing all black. Directed by Eric DiCarlo, the band’s energy is captured as they deliver a lively performance. Close-ups on solos, drums, and screams bring the watcher in while full-band shots complete the picture. As the song fades, the video cuts to slow motion, then a close-up of the vocalist.
