Born of Osiris – In Desolation

After the release of “Torchbearer,” “A Mind Short Circuiting,” and “Elevate,” Born of Osiris premiered their single, “In Desolation.” Its melodic chorus and violently progressive verses create a special sonic universe, key to its attached album Through Shadows. It was released just prior to their fall tour across the US with HANABIE. and Jinjer.

Lyrics such as “I see clearly now / And I see clearer now / So will you pull me out / Or watch me drown,” and “Sun beams flash through the rivers / Under the shade we discover / The mysteries,” detail freeing the mind and allowing oneself to see the truth distinctly. The band elaborates on the song's meaning, stating, “In Desolation” represents the search for clarity within yourself, even when the journey feels desolate. While this song stays grounded in our roots, we continue to explore new sonic elements.” During the writing process, the instrumentation stayed consistent; however, at the last second, the band had a burst of inspiration and completely rewrote the ending, completing it with a djenty breakdown.

Through Shadows arrived on July 11, 2025. Its distinct imagery matches that of its previously released title track, boasting a bold orange among other warm tones. The 13 tracks are laced with hope and introspection, despite its heavy presentation. Publications, critics, and fans worldwide drew their eyes to the collection, noting the evolution of their sound throughout the years.

Beginning in the 2000s and still making major waves decades later, Through Shadows continues the band’s musical legacy, and they show no signs of slowing down.
