Seven Hours After Violet – Alive
With members composed of Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down, Taylor Barber of Left to Suffer, Morgoth Beatz, Josh Johnson of Winds of Plague, and Alejandro Aranda of Scarypoolparty and American Idol, the supergroup has pushed genre boundaries to create emotionally intense pieces of art. “Alive” was released in 2024 in anticipation of their self-titled album. The single is vulnerable and intense, exploring dark themes and the twisted excitement of how suffering is a reminder of being alive. Lyrics such as “As my blood spills, I feel alive” reflect this.
Odadjian revealed, “‘Alive’ dives deep into the duality of pain and vitality, where suffering becomes a twisted reminder of existence. It’s about the dark thrill of feeling alive through intense emotions, even when they blur the line between ecstasy and despair. A haunting space where agony and empowerment collide.”
Continuing the song's emotional intensity, the music video, directed by Bond Creative, visually mirrors the power of "Alive." Saturated in green throughout, the camera movements, shots of the band, and close-ups of dilating pupils echo the song’s lyrical themes, creating an exciting, adrenaline-inducing atmosphere. The video was edited by Max Moore and produced by Odadjian alongside Beatz.
