Bones UK – Won’t Settle
Bones UK announced their sophomore album, Soft, with the release of their acclaimed single “Bikinis.” The news followed their 2019 self-titled debut, which earned them a Grammy nomination for both Best Rock Performance (with “Pretty Waste”) and for their cover of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans.” In anticipation of their upcoming album, the duo also unleashed their single “Won’t Settle” on April 23, 2024.
Queens Of The Stone Age bassist Mike Shuman joined the duo in creating the track, adding his unique creative touch. “We banged our brains with Mike Shuman from QOTSA to birth ‘Won’t Settle,’” the duo stated. “It’s classic rock and roll, and we wanted to take it back to our London roots. It’s about freedom; Not settling, settling down, up or any way around.”
The single came partnered with its rock-infused, moody music video. It was shot on location in Los Angeles, Nashville, and Mexico City. Rosie Bones directed the video herself alongside Tobias Ross-Southall. The video cycles between shots of Bones UK dancing, playing, and bringing their signature energy as the lyrics detail their inability to settle “for anything other than everything.”
Bones UK furthered their discography of bold, powerful anthems with “Won’t Settle”, and brought even more anticipation to their sophomore album. Soft arrived on September 13, 2024, following other acclaimed singles such as “Fix” and “Knee Deep.” Soft received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, with Kerrang! writer James Hingle dubbing it an album that stays “true to who they are by offering up something that feels very human. It’s raw, unapologetic and keeps things real.”
