Black Veil Brides – Fields Of Bone

Black Veil Brides – Fields Of Bone

In April of 2021, “Fields of Bone” and its music video continued the story first introduced by “Scarlet Cross.” It features the protagonist, “The Blackbird,” returning to fight the antagonist, “9.” The chorus reads, “The fight / Heaven hasn’t ended / I swear that I’ll protect it / Time is the soldier / Keep marching closer to Fields of Bone,” mirroring the plot.

The video also marks frontman Andy Biersack’s directing debut, alongside production by Steven Contreras and cinematography by Patrick Fogarty. A behind-the-scenes video, “The Making of ‘Fields of Bone’” emerged on Sumerian Records’ YouTube channel. In it, Biersack explains the vision behind the video, alongside interviews with the band.

Upon release, fans prepared for the band’s upcoming concept album, The Phantom Tomorrow, to further the story. While the original release date was set for June 4, the physical media, including its accompanying comic series conceptualized by Biersack himself and written by Michael Moreci, as well as the vinyl, would not be ready due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A new date was then set for October 29, 2021.

Following the release of three more singles, “Crimson Skies,” “Torch,” and “Born Again,” The Phantom Tomorrow was unveiled. The album features artwork by Eliran Kantor, known for working with Testament and Hatebreed, and was produced by Erik Ron (Godsmack, Dance Gavin Dance) alongside Jake Pitts. It was well received by critics and fans, appearing on the Billboard 200 chart and climbing to number six on the UK Rock & Metal Albums chart. The Phantom Tomorrow continued Black Veil Brides’ sustained legacy as their sixth studio album.
